Dung beetles do not effect any of your plants or hurt any animals! They are ecosystem service providers, meaning the earth needs them to survive effectively, another example of a ecosystem service provider are bees!

We encourage you to look up dung beetles for yourself and see the amazing things they can do.

You have the choice to buy dung beetles that can fly and dung beetles that cannot. Dung beetles that cannot fly are not found naturally in the wild meaning you can only buy them here.

Sense the dung beetles cannot fly, they cannot leave your yard and will continue to remove dog dung from around October to April! All year round for those who live in tropical places like Cairns.

Please use an enclosed yard for your dung beetles as wired fences will not keep dung beetles in your yard as they will simply walk out.

Dung beetles that can fly will remove dung faster however there is no way of keeping them in your yard. They will stay from anywhere between 1 week and 2 months, but it is impossible to tell.

Each time a dung beetle removes dung they lay a single egg and around 50 days later you will have new dung beetles but only a couple will stay in your yard. This is because if there are to many beetles some will leave, that’s why you will get the best results from flightless dung beetles

The amount of dung beetles will depend on the size of the yard and how many dogs you have. Please read what dung beetles will work best for you.

Remember dung beetles are living animals and days where it is storming, they will likely hide underground and wait for the rain to pass. Also on really hot days some dung dog will dry up, dung beetles will not remove the dry dung, instead they will remove some of it but not all. Usually as they do this they will break up the dung turning it to dust away.

Different dung beetle species remove dung at different times to avoid competition for resources AKA dung!
